Fulbright Scholar Program

For: academic research and university lecturing (Kandidat Nauk or Doctor Nauk equivalent)
Program Length: 4 to 9 months
Application Deadline: October 15, 2011

Program Opportunities: To provide research and lecture opportunities at American universities for scholars, researchers and other professionals.

Program Description

The program aims to provide educational exchange experiences which would be valuable not only to the scholar, but to the recipient's home institution, its faculty and its students, as well as to the U.S. host institution. Fulbright Scholars serve as cultural ambassadors and should be prepared to speak about their countries, cultures and research to academic and community groups.

The program provides opportunities to establish professional contacts with colleagues in the U.S.; to develop collaborative research relationships with U.S. scholars; and to enhance their scholarly publications and other contributions with research conducted in the U.S. This is an opportunity to pursue scholarly work without interruption.

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Ukrainian citizenship.
  • Doctoral degree (a Kandidat Nauk or Doctor Nauk) or equivalent professional training or experience at the time of application.
  • High proficiency in written and oral English.
  • Able to receive a U.S. J-1 visa which requires returning to Ukraine for 2 years following program completion.
  • Has not traveled to the U.S. a Fulbright Program grant recipient for at least five years
  • Was not an employee (or family member of an employee) of a U.S. mission or agency of the U.S. Department of State. Such persons are ineligible during the time of employment and for one year after termination of employment.

How to Apply:

By October 15, 2011 submit document packet: completed application form, detailed project statement, 3 letters of recommendation, and CV. Applications can be downloaded or requested by e-mail from scholar@fulbright.com.ua. All documents are submitted in Ukrainian and English languages with the exception of the application form (in English only).
