Fulbright Scholar Program
For: academic research and university lecturing (Kandidat Nauk or Doctor Nauk equivalent)

Program Opportunities: To provide research and lecture opportunities at American universities for scholars, researchers and other professionals.
Program Description
The program aims to provide educational exchange experiences which would be valuable not only to the scholar, but to the recipient's home institution, its faculty and its students, as well as to the U.S. host institution. Fulbright Scholars serve as cultural ambassadors and should be prepared to speak about their countries, cultures and research to academic and community groups.
The program provides opportunities to establish professional contacts with colleagues in the U.S.; to develop collaborative research relationships with U.S. scholars; and to enhance their scholarly publications and other contributions with research conducted in the U.S. This is an opportunity to pursue scholarly work without interruption.
Eligibility & Requirements
Ukrainian citizenship.
Doctoral degree (a Kandidat Nauk or Doctor Nauk) or equivalent professional training or experience at the time of application.
High proficiency in written and oral English.
Able to receive a U.S. J-1 visa which requires returning to Ukraine for 2 years following program completion.
How to Apply:
By October 2, 2006 submit document packet: completed application form<http://www.fulbright.org.ua/app/Application1.zip>, detailed statement of proposed activity for research or lecturing, 3 letters of recommendation, and CV. Applications can be downloaded or requested by e-mail from scholar@fulbright.com.ua or from research@fulbright.com.ua. All documents are submitted in Ukrainian and English languages with the exception of the application form (in English only).
Selection Process:
The selection process will consider the candidate's professional achievements, feasibility of proposed project, and long-term benefit of the project.
First screening of applications is done by the Fulbright Program in Ukraine. Applications are reviewed for completeness and candidate eligibility.
American and Ukrainian area experts review applications and determine semi-finalists.
Semi-finalists are invited to interview in English language before a Ukrainian-American selection committee.
The selection committee will recommend finalists to the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board for final decision. The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) in Washington, DC will determine the hosting U.S. university.
