GMAT ORIENTATION INFORMATION
Graduate Management Admission Test

1. Scratchpaper and pencils are provided. No pens are allowed 

2. Other than their IDs and allowed testing aids, candidates may not bring anything with them into testing room.  Other belongings must be stored in a designated area. 

3. Candidates need to sign in and out any time they enter or leave testing room, and upon returning they must show IDs. 

4. Each exam begins with a Tutorial, which shows candidates how to use certain computer functions necessary for taking the exam. Candidates may take as much time as they need with the Tutorial.  It is not included in test time. 

5. Each exam is proctored and videotaped. 

6. After candidates have signed in and provided the required documentation, check-in will be performed.  This is done on an individual basis.  Candidates will then be seated at their designated workstations. 

7. Computer Adaptive Test:  all test questions must be answered as presented;  examinees cannot skip any questions; they cannot review previous questions and  answers. 

8. After first and second exam section there is an optional five-minute break. No other breaks are allowed. 

9. Administrators will need to reactivate the program after the break. 

10. CBT (computer based test) is presented in seven segments: 

  • Tutorial 
  • Possibility to list up to five graduate institutions to which results should be sent by ETS. THIS MUST BE COMPLETED AT THIS TIME OR EXAMINEES WILL NEED TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF $15 PER INSTITUTION. 
  • Three exam sections: Analytical, Quantitative and Verbal. 
  • Test results are shown. 
  • Biographical survey. 
  • Exit questions. 
  • Print-out of Quantitative and Verbal score results. 
 11.  Examinees must complete exam either by answering all the questions or by running out of time. 

12.  Official test score reports will be mailed from ETS (in the U.S.) approximately two weeks after the test.

GMAT CAT:
Analytical Writing 1 topic 30 minutes (See note below)
Quantitative 37 questions 75 minutes
Verbal 41 questions 75 minutes

NOTE:   The candidates can save their essays by choosing "Record answer" if time is up and choose "Confirm answer" if there is still time left. However, the system will also save the essays automatically. 

NB: At the end of the GMAT test, candidates will have the options to view scores or to not view scores. Please note that the system will automatically report the scores if the candidate takes no Action within 5 minutes.
